UCL: UNITED ENDCAMPAIGN WITH DRAW

Interim Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick made a lot of changes to his starting line-up as his team ended their group stage campaign with a 1-1 draw against Swiss champions Young Boys.

With Manchester United already through to the first knockout stage as Group F winners, Rangnick made wholesale changes to hisstarting XI as he gave fringe players and young players the opportunity to stake a claim for more playing time.

Manchester United took the lead through Mason Greenwood who was making his first start in around a month. England international Greenwood started the season in the starting XI before he tested positive to the dreaded COVID-19 thereby losing his place in the Manchester United starting line-up. Greenwood scored the first goal of the Champions League clash between hosts Manchester United and Swiss champions Young Boys in the ninth minute. He produced a good finish to bag his fifth Manchester United in all competitions this season.

Greenwood returned to the Manchester United squad for the first time since last month during the Crystal Palace clash in the English top flight on Sunday. The young Englishman was a second half substitute as Manchester United left it late to secure a 1-0 home win over the Eagles. The much maligned Brazilian player Fred turned out to be the star of the show against Crystal Palace after he scored in the 77^th minute to win the game for his team.

Young Boys went into the Manchester United game with the target of causing an upset against the Red Devils again after their first group stage meeting ended in a 2-1 win against ten men after English right-back Aaron Wan-Bissakawas sent off in the first half. In the end, Young Boys could not get the win that would have given them a possible UEFA Europa League slot after Fabian Riedle scored a 42^ndequaliserfor a 1-1 draw.
