RUDIGER’S AGENT FUELS PLAYER’S POSSIBLE MANCHESTER UNITED MOVE

The Manchester Evening News understands United will look to sign another centre-back this summer and that Pau Torres is back on the club’s radar. That’s despite United signing Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for £34m last August.

Harry Maguire has endured a nightmare season while Varane has been unavailable for 16 matches across all competitions through injury or illness this season. It’s expected Phil Jones and Eric Bailly will also be allowed to leave the club. Continue reading            RUDIGER’S AGENT FUELS PLAYER’S POSSIBLE MANCHESTER UNITED MOVE

FA CUP: BORO STUN TOTENHAM

English Championship outfit Middlesbrough are one of the giant-killers in this season’s FA Cup after they were responsible for the exit of Manchester United in the last round. Boro were massive underdogs when they made the fourth round trip to face Manchester United at the Theatre of Dreams, but they were unstoppable as they knocked out their hosts via penalties. Young Swedish winger Anthony Elanga missed the decisive penalty for Manchester United to see Boro through to the fifth round thereby setting up an home clash with another of the big boys in Tottenham Hotspur.

Middlesbrough further highlighted their status as a giant-killer in this season’s FA Cup campaign when they saw off North London side Tottenham Hotspur to qualify for the quarterfinals of the competition. Continue reading FA CUP: BORO STUN TOTENHAM

WHY DID BORO’S GOAL STAND

While Manchester United would have no complaints about the way the penalty shoot-out went, there would be wondering how the hell did Boro’s goal count in the first place. Matt Crook scored a second-half equalizer which made sure that the game extend beyond the 90, but clearly struck teammate Duncan Watmore’s hand during the build-up.

Manchester United are almost certain to appoint a new manager in the summer to replace club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer whom they sacked in November. The Ex-Manchester United striker was dismissed from his role as the Manchester United manager after a series of poor result in the league. Another former Manchester United player in Michael Carrick was named the caretaker manager when Solskjaer was sacked and he was in charge for three games in all competitions before he made way for current boss Ralf Rangnick. Carrick was an assistant to Solskjaer and he left the club once Rangnick came on board as the interim manager until the end of this season. German manager Rangnick is expected to assume a consultancy role at the club for two years at the end of the season as part of the contract signed before he assumed his current position.

UNITED ON VERGE OF KNOCKOUT STAGE

Manchester United are closing in on a place in the Champions League knockout stage after battling to a draw against Atalanta from the Italian Serie A. The two teams met in a Champions League Group F clash in Bergamo on Tuesday night. Manchester United had to come from behind twice to claim a 2-2 draw against their Italian opponents.

Manchester United shot stopper David De Gea has been one of the best players at the club this season but he would be the first to admit that he should have done better for the opening goal. The Spanish international should have saved the shot from Slovenian attacker Josip Ilicic for the first goal of the game on 12 minutes. Continue reading UNITED ON VERGE OF KNOCKOUT STAGE
